3 (out of a million) Places I Find Inspiration

As a buyer, a business owner, and Home Girl, it’s necessary for me to stay inspired. I’ll get right into this one…here are 3 places that I turn to when I need a little visual inspo.

1 – Edie

Edie's Art

Some moms hang up their children’s art because it’s so cute when your child makes something and is so proud of it. I, on the other hand, hang up my child’s art strictly for my own benefit. The colors always end up being so fantastic together and they are combos that I could never come up with on my own. I’m much too safe…I would tend to stay with blues and greens and add a pop of something unexpected. Edie, a three year old, knows nothing about being safe when it comes to color. She requests a drop of this and a drop of that and mixes without hesitation. The outcome is always surprising to me. I’m seriously thinking of doing a room based on this color combo…

2 – Travel

Restaurants, boutique hotels, city streets…why do these things always seem so much more enchanting when you’re somewhere else? Well, because in some cases, they just are…

Case in Point #1:

This bathroom in Hotel El Ganzo in San Jose del Cabo. My mom and I took a little tour of this boutique hotel when it was first built just a couple years ago. It’s currently under construction, as Cabo was hit hard by a hurricane last fall. I can’t wait until it reopens to see what new things they have come up with this time!

Case in Point #2:

Flora Farms. The whole place is insta-worthy. It’s a restaurant, a farm, a community…and I ate dinner with Luke Wilson there one time, so…

Ok, maybe not with, but just a table away, so basically…

Flora Farms is the type of place a Minnesotan will walk into and then spend the entire course of dinner cursing their ancestors for insisting on settling somewhere that has snow 9 months of the year.

Case in Point #3:

Cabo Surf Hotel. Is there anything more inspiring than stuffing your face with tacos whilst enjoying watching hot bods surfing? Me thinks not.

3 – Pinterest

It’s the mother lode of inspiration. It’s free. I can do it in my jammies. Pinterest is my go to when I’m looking for ideas on color combos. If I’m curious to see how painting my wood floors white would look…Pinterest. If I want to make jello shots in the shapes of babies…Pinterest. It’s all there! What inspires you from day to day? Is it places? Words? Music? I have found that for me to stay inspired and encouraged, I need to surround myself with things I love. I need to spend my time with people that make me laugh. I need to visit new places and see new things…and until i can find the time and money, there’s always Pinterest.
